About Us
IMVC provides young people with opportunities to explore a diverse suite of career options and enhance their employability through applied or vocational training. IMVC’s programs address skill shortage areas within vocational employment and lead to lower unemployment levels, thereby impacting the wellbeing of the broader community.
IMVC was established in 1998 and addresses these issues by serving young people aged 13 – 19, within mainstream schooling and disengaged from education.
IMVC has a strong track-record and is well respected amongst schools, government and the broader community. Today, IMVC provides a diverse suite of programs including:
- Career and Transition Programs – providing hands-on opportunities to explore career options;
- Brokering of Vocational Training – linking young people with Registered Training Organisations to undertake a wide variety of accredited courses;
- Delivery of Community Education – linking young people disengaged from school with opportunities for applied learning;
- Delivery of Vocational Training – providing low-cost access to Hospitality and Hairdressing training;
- Brokering of Workplace Learning – providing young people with access to applied learning via structure workplace and school-based apprenticeships;
- Delivery of Youth Connections – providing case management support to young people who are most at risk of disengaging from school through to those who are severely disengaged from education family and community;
- National Disability Coordination Office – brokering support services to address barriers people with a disability face in enrolling or participating in post school education, training or employment
IMVC traditionally focused on service delivery in the Capital City and Inner Eastern regions. Today, IMVC’s geographic footprint has expanded to provide programs across Inner and Outer North and Inner and Outer East.
